Despite not getting to sleep until Hrfnrr:30 this morning, I'm startlingly awake (this may have something to do with a 3-hour nap yesterday afternoon, due to rediscovering the wonders of Benadryl). I'm going to choose to attribute this to a variety of things, some in my control, some not:
  • I was able to recover all of the most important data from my computer after the power surge, with the help of Knoppix, a Linux-on-a-CD operating system that I fully think everyone should have, even Windows users. It creates the entire O/S in ram, so you can access any files that survive (bypassing file permissions if need be), make ZIP archives, FTP them offsite or even email them, browse the web for tech solutions... it's quite impressive. Nine thanks to [livejournal.com profile] druidevo for the loan of his CD, I'll be making my own once I get fully up and running again.
  • Got Windows 2000 re-installed on my system again this morning, although it's still claiming not to be able to find teh Intarweb. Not sure if I have to cycle the modem or what, but the nice thing is, the new video card seems to work without a hitch.
  • Pagan women are irrationally hot; amazing what a general lack of psychotically repressive views about sex and beauty will do for you. And that goes double for the ones I'm in love with.
  • I'm in the office two days this week, before heading to Sacramento for a conference. While that means I'm away from my other thirds, it also means I get to stop answering phones for a few days, probably learn some new things, and catch up on some in-flight reading.
  • The Geek Weekend Trifecta was achieved last night, after D&D and Star Wars, we ended up researching/cross-referencing something in the Wheel of Time series. Whee!
  • Last but not least, they played the strangely bouncy "Na-na-na" song I heard several weeks ago (but could NOT place a name or artist too) again this morning. Turns out to be Beck, who I don't own any music by...yet. I like his ability to mix-and-match his mood and the tempo of his music; for instance, despite being all bouncy and techno, the lyrics to this one are pretty harsh. Me likey.

::edit:: Of course, to balance things out, for some reason my mood icons, and the site they've been hosted on, are no longer working. So that's fun.
::::further edit:::: And now it's up again.

are at beck's website (http://www.beck.com/epro/)

Check it out. Video is very reminiscent of Tron.

Thanks!

*laugh* Very cool. Reminded me of Tim Burton quite a bit, too...
