Despite not getting to sleep until Hrfnrr:30 this morning, I'm startlingly awake (this may have something to do with a 3-hour nap yesterday afternoon, due to rediscovering the wonders of Benadryl). I'm going to choose to attribute this to a variety of things, some in my control, some not:
  • I was able to recover all of the most important data from my computer after the power surge, with the help of Knoppix, a Linux-on-a-CD operating system that I fully think everyone should have, even Windows users. It creates the entire O/S in ram, so you can access any files that survive (bypassing file permissions if need be), make ZIP archives, FTP them offsite or even email them, browse the web for tech solutions... it's quite impressive. Nine thanks to [livejournal.com profile] druidevo for the loan of his CD, I'll be making my own once I get fully up and running again.
  • Got Windows 2000 re-installed on my system again this morning, although it's still claiming not to be able to find teh Intarweb. Not sure if I have to cycle the modem or what, but the nice thing is, the new video card seems to work without a hitch.
  • Pagan women are irrationally hot; amazing what a general lack of psychotically repressive views about sex and beauty will do for you. And that goes double for the ones I'm in love with.
  • I'm in the office two days this week, before heading to Sacramento for a conference. While that means I'm away from my other thirds, it also means I get to stop answering phones for a few days, probably learn some new things, and catch up on some in-flight reading.
  • The Geek Weekend Trifecta was achieved last night, after D&D and Star Wars, we ended up researching/cross-referencing something in the Wheel of Time series. Whee!
  • Last but not least, they played the strangely bouncy "Na-na-na" song I heard several weeks ago (but could NOT place a name or artist too) again this morning. Turns out to be Beck, who I don't own any music by...yet. I like his ability to mix-and-match his mood and the tempo of his music; for instance, despite being all bouncy and techno, the lyrics to this one are pretty harsh. Me likey.

::edit:: Of course, to balance things out, for some reason my mood icons, and the site they've been hosted on, are no longer working. So that's fun.
::::further edit:::: And now it's up again.

:D~

Irrationally hot pagan women, w'hoo! Sorry to hear about the icons. That's one of the reasons mine are saved to the net AND on my laptop. Good luck with 'em.

We like the bouncy.

Of course, yesterday's unexpected Hot Nap Action™ may also figure in. Better living through chemistry and all.

And I'm going to assume that you're saying I'm doubly irrationally hot -- thanks for that!!, as [livejournal.com profile] opaljax might say.

It's a larger problem, in that for some reason http://www.gaiacommunity.org is down. Not sure what's up with that, since we're supposed to be all paid up.

Oh well; I'm not supposed to be hosting them there, anyway...

Right, I forgot to document the Benadryl Effect™; Thanks for that!

You're doubly-irrational, and I'm pretty sure you're doubly hot too, so it may be distributive. Further research is required.

Mmm... research

If it's going to be research, I'll need to sign a consent form containing a detailed research plan ;)

this is the kind of thing I never tire of hearing!!

Hell yes!!! Beck is MY FAVORITE ARTIST (after the Obligatory Gratefuldeadness) ever ever ever. He is also my ultimate sexual fantasy, especially back in 94 when he had that goofy haircut and used a leaf blower on stage at his performances. He is abolsutely fucking brilliant and Guero is his masterpeice. I've written a bunch about him, not sure if you've seen it. Run over to your Starbucks and get Guero. the man has a young baby and the Scientologists to support!!

I was gonna ask for an amen...

...but you seem to have that covered.

(I'm still fond of your icon, by the way. Where does it really come from?)

Oh good, I was hoping someone on my list was a fan, to help me get started. I've heard that Devil's Haircut is not the best, but that his new one is going to be excellent, and Odelay is also near the top.

I think? Maybe I've got some things goofed up...

Darn, it's a very cool image, but probably even better in its original size.

Odelay (to which I'm listening as we speak) is credited to be the highpoint to date, it was suppsoed toi be the BreakOut Hit after the OneHit OWnder of Loser. Much acclaim, but it never caught fire.

Guero (the new joint) is his most mature, introspective and confident work, drawing fully on his life experiences, the birth fo his child, the tragic suicide of his fiend Elliot smith. It show cases his ability to mine the sonic landscape and create these worlds of sound and meaning that are just so enigmatic and lush. he moves like no other. not even jerry.

My fave til now has been Mutations, which is trippy, faux-Brazilian and caused very lil furor. I was deeply in denial about My Little Fucked Up Life on the Prairie. Then came Midnite Vultures, the CD record. Yow. My Lady is mentioned almost by anme thru out it. very hot.

The day I left my husband he released SeaChnge, the BreakUp album. Caramba!! It's all about his Painful Breakup and since he's a sensitive Cancer like me...well you can imagine.

"Now I';ve bade a friend farewell
and I can do whatever pleases me"

sung as if he's passing his entire pericardium thru his nose.

Guero is a masterpiece. check it. if i had any compuet savvy i'd send you things.
