They're doing it (wrong) again (or not?)

matchgirl42, here's a head's up on another change to the way LJ works:
According to her, http://www.livejournal.com/manage/comments/ no longer allows Basic Accounts to receive email notifications of comments. That would well and truly suck, if true. I'm still paid for another half-year, can somebody else confirm?
::edit:: According to comments below, this may be just a case of transient error, not nefarious purposes. *shrug* Hard to say...

Date: 2008-05-16 07:36 pm (UTC)Wait, did you get comments from another basic account? I forgot to mention that she said she was still getting comments emailed, if they were from a Paid (or Plus?) account... it's all very weird.

Date: 2008-05-16 08:17 pm (UTC)Where I got that from is, when I checked the Manage Comments page, the last option, "Receive email copies of comments you make," the box has been grayed out. What that says to me is that it's not an option for me at the level my journal is at.
Unless someone can offer an alternative explanation for that, I'd be glad to hear it. Perhaps it's because my journal and
This also happened when my paid account lapsed before (http://matchgirl42.livejournal.com/376434.html).

Date: 2008-05-16 08:29 pm (UTC)The other half, I still don't understand. I get email notification of comments that paid and plus members make - both to posts in my journal and comments I make elsewhere. But not from basic accounts. (I say this because I would only realize a comment had been posted by a basic member after I went back to the particular posting.) Why is that????
Unless someone with a basic account wants to test that, they can do so on any post in my journal, feel free.

Date: 2008-05-16 09:20 pm (UTC)I still don't like losing email notifications of the comments I make, though.
Have I mentioned I'm a bit of a control freak?
from one control freak to another
Date: 2008-05-16 09:39 pm (UTC)In my case, I control how much LJ interferes with my life, my attention, and the clutter in my email. :)
Re: from one control freak to another
Date: 2008-05-16 10:05 pm (UTC)I, on the other hand, want to see my comments. Because I want to read them over again 5-10 minutes later, for editing purposes.
Of course, I've also lost the editing capability with the move to a basic account...but I could still *append* in another comment...

Date: 2008-05-16 07:53 pm (UTC)I would prefer to think that LJ's just going through another round of comment epilepsy. It does that from time to time.

Date: 2008-05-16 08:08 pm (UTC)Also, I've had trouble once or twice with the Yah** email I was using -- gmail is doing well for me so far, though.
Might check the link below if you haven't yet -- I don't know how much relates to her difficulty, if anything, but it's the closest I could find.
