To avoid brain fog, here's a clever lil' meme, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] zianuray by way of [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale:

Ask me seven questions. Not just any seven questions though. No, to keep it interesting, use the seven questions as per below - just copy and paste the following, replace the blanks with something you want to know/ask (e.g. 3. Donkeys or sandcastles and why?), anything you want, personal, silly, surreal or deep, comment away and I'll answer honestly.

  1. What do you think of _____________ ?
  2. When did you last ____________?
  3. __________ or ___________ and why?
  4. What did you ______________?
  5. What's your favorite ______________?
  6. How would you ______________?
  7. Who would you most like to ________ ?

Wake up, brain! Here's a mixed bag of trouble.

1. What do you think of my ass?
2. When did you last invent something?
3. Behavioral observation or self-reported anecdotes, and why?
4. What did you consider to be a big win about your job?
5. What's your favorite trope in role-playing games?
6. How would you describe your 'dream car'?
7. Who would you most like to have on-call for advice and the answering of questions?

I'm not sure I understand #3.

  1. Like I said the other day, I think it's firm and round, and very grabbable. That's a nice ass.
  2. Hrm. Probably the game we played during the Ritual Team Rededication.
  3. If I understand correctly, then you're asking what is more valuable for measuring a type of behavior (drug use, sex by teens, faith practices, etc). Behavioral observation is more objective in most cases, but usually prohibitively difficult/expensive. Anecdotal reporting at least gives us something to work with...
  4. Learning a lot of new skills (MS Access, CPTED, etc).
  5. Orphan/displaced person with a mission. It's a great way to jump into the story in media res.
  6. Sexy but efficient. My ideal car-selection would be to correlate lowest Cost of Ownership with Attractiveness. I keep forgetting to do this, even as a thought exercise (requires a lot of browsing of Edmunds, as I don't keep up with new car releases). Sexy usually means curves but not bubbles, some dramatic angles, and a good color in the paint job. Interior comfort is good too, especially in materials (at my size, cabin space is usually not a problem).
  7. CalTech. If it must be an individual, then Richard Feynman's ghost. I expect he's kept up with advances in the field...

  1. Meh. Zack has a lot of good messages to convey, unfortunately he bores me to F*cking Tears with repetitiveness and strained analogy. I want to like them, but I never can (I think my favorite is Renegades of Funk, which I just learned is a cover). Since I'm a big fan of Audioslave, I have to conclude that my problem is almost solely with Zack of the Roach.
  2. Totally new to me? No idea, actually... the last one I can think of for certain is sea urchin, four years ago at my wedding rehearsal dinner.
  3. ADF provides a broader context, and is a little less dogmatic than CR. CR has some definite value in the specificness of the research being done, but there's still precious little out there, so UPG works its way in one way or another. It's better when it's conscious.
  4. I didn't have a lot of fun in much of HS. It was tough for me, being short and shy and new in town, and having a crap home life. My senior year, I finally started dating (that was fun), and both my junior and senior year I did Academic Decathalon. When I moved out of my house halfway through my senior year, the Fun Level went up significantly. We played a ton of D&D (both in-person and the old Gold Box games), and generally fucked around all weekend. And believe it or not, I enjoyed the hell out of my job at Sonic.
  5. Tough call. I have a couple of pairs of pants that fit Very Well now, including the new green jeans that replace my ratty-and-disreputable green pants that my other thirds made me discard finally. I have several t-shirts with a lot of sentimental value, which I don't get to wear often due to work and the like. And I'm irrationally fond of having running shoes again. But the true answer is probably my Boondock Saints hoodie, because I never in my life wore a hoodie before that, so it must be exceptional to overcome that prejudice.
  6. With an electric razor. Straight razors are for playtime.
  7. Pantera, original lineup. I leave the reasons why as an exercise for the reader.

    1. It's crap, all the way around. FLDS probably IS a cult, but the evidence is mounting that the entire debacle has been sparked by a prank/anti-polygamy call from outside the compound. The Moral Panic over a 16-year-old calling for help seems to be massively overwrought. Is Warren Jeffs a right bastard? Certainly. Did these people's lives need to be overthrown? Probably not.
    2. I took yesterday afternoon off from work. Most of it I spent running errands, but I think that still counts. I've also been reading a lot lately.
    3. Roller coasters, definitely. I'm a recent devotee, but the rides are much more extreme than water rides (which are enjoyable, but a totally different experience). The one that comes close is the Jurassic Park ride at Universal Studios.
    4. Rolled over and tried to go back to sleep for another ten minutes.
    5. Planning something. :)
    6. If they ask, I usually say "Druid", and let them decide to ask further or not.

    1. Good idea for moral reasons, and I admire those that can do it. I don't know that I could, personally.
    2. Hard to say. I've listened to a lot more music in recent months, which makes any individual piece less impactful. Probably it was Ozzy's "Black Rain", which is good anti-war stuff.
    3. Carne asada, partly because it's a lot easier to screw up lamb.
    4. Long bicycle rides. I was mostly a loner, and it got me out of the house for indefinite periods of time.
    5. Probably XKCD currently; formerly Ghastly's Ghastly Comic.
    6. Electric SUV, cooler in the back, two or three close friends, satellite radio, and GPS. After that, I don't care where we're at, or going...

    1. Never tried any on. I think it's a decent concept, though I worry about how much chemical processing the fibers have to go through. Hemp paper, on the other hand...
    2. Probably early last fall.
    3. Color. I don't have a very good sense of smell or taste, so I need all the sensory input I can get.
    4. Read, invented geometric/math games, and rode my bike a lot. Also watched a fair ton of TV...
    5. Autumn. It lasts longer than spring, and trends in the weather direction I'd prefer (cooler).
    6. See #6 right above you...

Bun-Bun... read the article, but when I read the name at first, I immediately thought of Rollins. Funnier when I read the article.

Ever seen/heard Henry Rollin's Talking From the Box? He did it in early to mid 90s, on the stage talking... The Pet Store anecdote, about Bun-Bun, the bunny. It is quite funny if you haven't heard it... doesn't appear to have influenced the character in the strip according to the Wiki article.

    1. What do you think of Asian horror films? Meh. The style of most leaves me cold; the American remakes are even worse usually.
    2. When did you last enjoy a book? About an hour ago, on a break. I'm reading Tim Powers Last Call and Harry Turtledove's Settling Accounts: Drive to the East right now (actively).
    3. Jesus or Buddha and why? Someone asked me this the other day, so I'll quote my answer from there: "Jesus and Buddha in the Octagon to the death. Who do you put your money on? Jesus; his regeneration cycle is faster."
    4. What did you do to celebrate your last birthday? Bailed out an overflowing toilet, had sushi, and went to MicroCenter to scout new computer parts.
    5. What's your favorite novel? No one novel is my favorite. I'm moderately omnivorous, though I trend toward world-engrossing, complex plots, and fantasy/sci-fi. Hemingway ain't my thing, but I think Dostoevsky is funny. And Rand.
    6. How would you run the world? Dictator Chairman with lots of advisors.
    7. Who would you most like to see as our next president? Howard Dean.

    2. Probably when our May 3rd training went off successfully; or possibly when the May 4th Big Beltane Rite did, hard to say.
    3. Kissing girls, because I'm better at it, and it's a more target-rich environment.
    4. Not a damn thing, from what I remember. I didn't drink much in college, so it didn't matter much to me.
    5. Sleeping.
    6. Universal coverage with a private insurance/care option for those who can afford it; the economics of adverse selection are truly mindboggling, but eliminating all private health care is counterproductive.
    7. I have no idea; my brain kinda shuts down at questions like that.
