Maybe a real post coming later (or tomorrow, but I haven't found a meme I liked lately, and unlike featherynscale, who I stole this from, I *like* John Cusack.

In the film High Fidelity, the record-store employees (of which Mr. Cusack was one) would periodically turn to each other and say, "Okay -- top five side 1, track 1 songs", or "Ok -- top five songs for Laura's dead father" or other things like that.

So ask me about my top five $NOUN. No, they don't have to be songs. Be Creative.

Assuming that I have an opinion about $NOUN, and am willing to answer, I will tell you what they are (when I get back online, which might not be until this evening).

Sure. Any medium, character must be the hero, or one of a group of main characters, and be whiny. The top five can either be top five heros who you like who happen to be whiny, or top five whiniest heroes ever, regardless of whether you like them. Your call, but please specify.

I believe the question implies top five favorite $NOUN, so I'll take that tactic:

1. Dante "I'm not even supposed to BE here today!" Hicks, from Clerks. Not so much because he's my favorite-favorite, but he is the ur-Whiner of all whiny protagonists in my world.
2. Hayden Christiansen's Anakin Skywalker, from Episodes II & III of Star Wars. Finally, we learn that Luke is not just the result of a failed foster-parenting system on Tatooine, but genetically predisposed to whining on a galactic scale (you might say Anakin is not a protagonist, in which case I'll reverse it to be Luke).
3. Matrim Cauthon from The Wheel of Time. He whines about everything that happens to him, but does it anyway. Again. He's much more entertaining at it than Rand, who I'd characterize as more of a brooder.
4. Achilles in The Illiad; possibly the prototype for many of the above, he really does sulk like a Beverly Hills cheerleader.
5. Jim Carrey's character in Bruce Almighty; even having seen only snippets of this, he's tremendously funny as someone who still manages to be incompetent, even with omnipotence.

Heh. Good one; this is tough because I don't usually hone in on one specific part. However I'll give it a try...

1. featherynscale's breasts take the prize, however. here's a shortage of perfect breasts in the world, but not around here;
2. saffronhare's upper back is a thing of beauty;
3. kittenpants's hips are mighty impressive, and fun to touch, even if that does occasionally get me thrown...
4. My legs, I think, are my best feature;
5. chaosdruid's waist, for some reason, is particularly nice.

That's a few...I could go on for hours probably, though. I'm very holistic.

Top Five Favorite Roadtrip Memories

1. The sun coming up over the Atlantic just as I arrived in New Jersey at dawn after 20+ hours of driving;
   
2. Driving to my H.S. reunion, listening to old music tapes and entering southeastern Kansas and Okahoma.
   
3. Looking out an apartment window onto Downtown Washington D.C after dark;
   
4. Beignets at Cafe du Monde in New Orleans, again;
   
5. Trying to find another hotel to continue our misadventures in Memphis.
