triadruidQ: How can you tell the California Nurses' Lobby?
A; They're the ones wearing sensible white shoes with their black pantsuits.
Arrived in CA a couple of hours ago; no troubles on the way out, although I was surprised at how full the flights were. Weather is barmy, err balmy, and it looks like I'll have some Internet access through the local library. Right civilized out here.
They've also got light rail, recycling bins next to the public trash containers, and a preponderance of small silver sedans. Of course, there's still the occasional extended-cab Fire Department-issue gleaming white pick-up truck, but...
Amusingly, government functionaries and neighborhood activists look the same no matter what part of the country they come from. And not all California girls are all they're cracked up to be.

Consider it an excused absence for my brain cells.
