Went to bed last night at ~9:30, after drifting asleep twice during Red Dwarf, Series II (which is only a small commentary on the episode in question and mostly on my sleeping habits (or lack thereof) this weekend). Woke up at 7:25 feeling much more human, but still was late to work on account of packing my lunch, etc. And so it goes.

On the plus side, I got my car's brakes worked on mostly replaced this weekend, just in time for the rainstorm. Handles much better now. It does mean I have put about $1000 into the car in recent months, but it's still overall a sound vehicle, and does most everything I want it to do. I have a memory of someone saying recently "Your car outpaces most others that are much more powerful", but that may have been the Dwarfen Dreaming™ last night. I do know that I never need to own a sports car...I drive my little 4-cylinder Aspire already in a way that inspires fear in my enemies (and sometimes my passengers).

Had a great weekend overall, but everyone else has pretty much alluded to that already so I'll spare you the details. Working on this self-analysis thing some more, but I haven't really worked that out again for another introspective post. More later.

::edit:: I'm liking [livejournal.com profile] chronarchy's point about people stealing cards purely to disrupt the flow of an otherwise straightforward game. Maybe limit it to shuffling/stacking the deck for other players, with no personal benefit (kind of like The Hermit, only sneakier).

Please say it wasn't during "Stasis Leak."

3rd episode, Series II.... Thanks for the Memory?

I drifted out about the time that Adm. Lt. Gen. Rimmer was collapsing under the weight of his negative fantasies, and came back to around the time Lister was explaining the "8 months" thing.

Errr wait, those are two different episodes (correpsonding to the two times I fell asleep, of course). I never saw how they got out of the ants-and-jam problem in Better Than Life, and missed most of TftM.

I'll just have to watch them again sometime *le sigh*.

Our Aspire once quietly passed my buddy in his roaring '81 Musang on an on-ramp. For being a normally mellow I.T. Marine, he got really pissed. I could beat his Mustang in the mid-range, and I was also better in the snow than my other roomate's GMC Jimmy/Blazer thing due to the narrow tires. Unfortunately, the thing self-destructed at 50k.

My tires are crap right now (another couple of paychecks and I'll get those replaced, too), but I know of whence you speak. I frequently pass stuck SUVs in the snow because my tires cut through to the pavement better.

I'm at 84k and counting...*knocks on wood*

Yeah, that's the bad part... Fords with worn tires are scary things. I remember when my Sable couldn't make it up the hill West of the Grandview triangle when it was raining becuase my tires would slip at anything over 30mph. Ironically, they had enough tread to pass inspection, but the tire composition had gotten 'hard' from heat (going too fast I think).

Honey, I've seen you do things in a VW Rabbit that would scare guys with big honkin V8 engines.

Thanks!

By the way, with the wheel bearings and brakes fixed, the Druidmobile sounds very much like the Purrmobile 2.0, now...

You should come out and visit, sometime. :)

Honey, any car fear that you may incur has nothing to do with your vehicle, or the soundness thereof. It's all you.

I'm scary!

Do you need help changing the brakes?? Among my many talents, I can change brakes. I even have the tools. You would have to tie me down, but I could help.

Nope honey, I made them do the brakes last weekend. Rotors, bearings, emergency brake...it all needed done, and it's much better now.

Thanks for offering; I thought of asking you originally, but I let it go and there was too much damage/need for expert repair.

I may still take you up on the tying down, however...

Would that be sooner rather than later?? ::Drool:: Thanx, Honey, I needed that.

giggling, much like burping is involuntary. I can try to hold it in, but it just might explode later. (Think Monty Python) :D
