Shoot the whole world down..
Jan. 24th, 2005 12:21 pmErgh. Monday came waaaay too early this weekend. Didn't help that we were up until Hmrpeh:00 AM on Saturday/Sunday talking with
zylch's sisters-in-truth-if-not-law,
ysabel and
amaltheae; very cool people though, and I don't regret it. I did have to yank myself out of circulation last night though and recharge my solitude batteries.
It's probably a sign that I woke up this morning humming "I Don't Like Mondays", despite only having heard it once to my knowledge, and that was sometime last week. I don't have nearly a good enough ear to tell whether it was the Boomtown Rats version or the Bon Jovi version, but I'm fairly certain it wasn't the Tori Amos version. I think.
So yeah, fairly useless on a Monday morning (oh hey, it's 12:30 now...), but then things like this story put it all in perspective. Thanks to
bean_drui for the link: it seems this gentleman's wife went into a coma last September and he's been visiting her every day for months. So he finally gives up on her ever recovering and kills himself... and she wakes up 12 hours later. In Italy. Padua, to be exact. Near Verona. I couldn't *make* this stuff up, folks...

Date: 2005-01-24 09:44 pm (UTC)I feel very stupid about it, if that helps at all.
Don't make me beat you for beating yourself up...
Date: 2005-01-24 09:48 pm (UTC)In further news of "I've been hanging around my hetaira too much, I got to argue with someone about what the Second Law of Thermodynamics meant today. You'd have been pleased. :)
Re: Don't make me beat you for beating yourself up...
Date: 2005-01-24 10:47 pm (UTC)I am always excited to hear you talk about physics :) Was it in a religious context? That would be even better.
And if you're going to insist that my role in the household is hetaera, we're going to have to discuss my retainer, as I'm not currently being paid either for sex or instruction and debate. (Unless I'm being paid in sex for instruction and debate, which is cool for me, but there are generations of practicing whores who look down on this.)
I'm not going to say anything about the beating. :)
