So picture this: Mere weeks after calling for Dan Rather's head for using forged documents in his story about George Bush's National Guard service (in which no one really debated the substance of the issue, merely the veracity of those documents), FOX news commits a blunder. You see, it appears one of their reporters (hee, hee) was having a little fun (ho, ho), and wrote up a fake news story about John Kerry's reactions to the debate last week. It included little fake quotes like "I'm a metrosexual, he's a cowboy!" (ha, ha) and "Women should like me! I do manicures." (ho,...huh?) Upon realizing that someone had posted this little ditty to FOX news' website as an actual article, they pulled the page offline and "disciplined" the reporter for his "joke". End of story...
Really; I couldn't make this stuff up; go here for a post about it that includes a link to the Yahoo!News story, and an archive of the now-removed 'story'.

Date: 2004-10-04 10:08 pm (UTC)The thing that does surprise me is that these improbable situations come out of the schools, yet people *I* know from the school system are exceedingly bright. So something is amiss. But then this year I finally met a teacher on par with the ones I had no respect for when I was a problem child... so they DO still exist, I've just been lucky. Or rather, the children have.
