As most of you have noticed, [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants and I are back from New Mexico. The trip was fantastic, but this is more than a "Yes we're alive" post.

Thank you. Thank you all.
Thank you for making the wedding day perfect. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] iron_clad for being a model Best Scotsman; "What, you need a pocket knife in the middle of the ceremony? Sure..got one here in my sporran.", Thank you to my uncle and imminent brother-in-law for backing him up as the other "Kiltsmen" (even if they never had/got to use their spears). Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale for being the Hetaira of Honor, Most Challenging Challenger, and all around supporter through the whole messy process. Thank you as well to [livejournal.com profile] breath_of_gold and KD for serving as "Bardsmaids", and not only giving the *best* rendition of Ode to Joy I've ever heard during the kiss, but being highly efficient at straightening up one rumpled Groom (you'll have to ask them what went on behind the tree those few moments). Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn and [livejournal.com profile] saffronhare for being our officiants and In Charge that day so we didn't have to be (and reminding us of that when we tried anyway). You put on a Ritual of Legend™. Thanks go out to [livejournal.com profile] zylch for being a stealthy little firetender (and letting the Godden upstage her at the crucial moment with one doozy of an Omen). Thank you [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants for saying 'I do' (this time).

Thanks to everyone who was there or sent their wishes on the air, along the rivers, or up the roads...including my father, who I got to speak to for the first time in 11 years when he called on my honeymoon. It seems he was on his way up for the ceremony when his car broke down and he ended up spending the day in Waco TX. My mother couldn't be there either, but she's called since then, and is doing better and out of the hospital. Thank you for burying our house in gifts while we were gone. Thank you for taking care of the house, the apple tree, the dog, the cat, and the Kimberly while we were gone, as well.

Thanks to all of the organizers and planners and people who worked behind the scenes to make both the ceremony and the reception such a success...including the original florist who helped us sketch our dreams, at least, before she changed jobs and left the company *ack*, the limousine driver (yes, the same guy who ran us around for the Bachelor/ette party), and most of all Bill, my new father-in-law (yes, that's weird to say) who repeatedly kept things juggled in the air, even to the point of driving us to the airport and picking us up again from our honeymoon.

The honeymoon was great. I'm not sure (per a previous conversation with [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar) what "consummate a marriage" means to those of us who believe in pre-marital sexual relations, but it seems to involve reading a lot of bad fiction, discovering that noise *does* carry through 2-foot thick adobe walls, and taking the siesta to heart. It may or may not also involve learning things about each other you didn't know before; data is still coming in.

Best of all, it's great to be back. Back among friends, and chosen family, and even back at work. So back I go...

completely unrelated amusement

Your subject line brought me back to this morning when a coworker, in his upper 50's if not lower 60's, kept singing "Dirty deeds done dirt cheap." (just the one line) This man normally listens to the classical station, so I'm not sure where this was coming from. Thankfully he's stopped now.

Glad to see you all back and looking blissful!

I'm glad you two had such a good wedding. After reading all the responses and seeing the pictures, I can see it went well. :)
