Similar to my booklist, here's the start of a music wish list. Suggestions are always welcome. In no particular order (bold means I've got it now):

Peter Gabriel, Shaking the Tree
Evanescence, Fallen
Loreena McKennitt, The Book of Secrets
Megadeth, Hidden Treasures (I think that completes the set)
Ministry, Psalm 69

Stabbing Westward, Darkest Days
Loreena McKennitt, Parallel Dreams
Ted Nugent, Great Gonzos-Best of Ted Nugent
Nickelback, Long Road
Lucinda Williams, World Without Tears
Blues Traveler, Travelogue
Disturbed, The Sickness
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Trouble Is...
The Eagles, The Very Best of
Enya, Watermark
Steve Miller Band, Young Hearts: Complete Greatest Hits
Joe Walsh, Greatest Hits: Little Did He Know
perhaps something by Killswitch Engage, based on [livejournal.com profile] iron_clad's recommendations.

Sweet, The Best of (or possibly just "Ballroom Blitz"). Along that vein, if I subscribed to a pay-by-the-song service, I could get things like Jet's "Cold Hard Bitch" and Saliva's "Click Click Boom" without actually paying for a CD I'll never likely find useful...

I also need to upgrade or disc copy a lot of my tape collection to CD/Ogg Vorbis: Metallica, Sepultura, Pantera, Poison, etc...

Please note that with the exception of upgrading my tapes, I'm not looking to get 'bootleg' copies or downloaded songs, at least not on a permanent basis. While I disagree with the RIAA's stance, I also feel it's wrong to rob an artist of the royalties that they do deserve, small as they may be. So most of these I'll be picking up some way or another at a cost, and therefore at a slow rate...

I think I have Shaking the Tree... I'll cast about and see if I can find it for you. Based on the variety of your musical tastes, I can't even begin to suggest anything else for you, though. I haven't discovered the pattern in that data set yet.

I dunno, if I ever get it all cataloged we can look at the total dataset, but I think it's gonna go all Mandelbrot on us...

I have a feeling the CD on the whole may be repetitive, but the songs I've heard thus far are pretty compelling..

actually not at all. i am pretty amazed by the sound of this group. they have become my new favorite band. to get that right you have to be pretty damn good.

That was my thought. I had the CD, and let it pass over me, through me, and away from me. The songs are all good, but they're all the same song.

I also have their first album if you want a copy. It's a bit more raw, less studio. Some of it very good, some of it crap. But it's fun to listen to from time to time.

Now that sounds interesting...after listening to Fallen for a while, I found [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale's assessment to be fairly correct...compelling, but all the same song/style.

forgot one!

I also have several by Lorena McKennitt, including Book of Secrets. I don't think I have Parallel Dreams though; is it new?

I had to go back and look up why I put it on my Amazon wish list, but apparently it's actually her older (original?) release from 1989. The song titles certainly intrigued me, as did the reviews saying it was more essentially Celtic, less experimental.

Hmmm...I'll have to check my collection then. I have 3 or 4 of hers.

Perhaps you just need to tip toe through my CD collection at some point?

Ok, don't have that one. However I do have Elemental, The Mask and Mirror, To Drive the Cold Winter Away, and a live double CD of hers.

I have some. . .

I have Metallica's Black album, and Loreena McKennit's Book of Secrets, and Disturb's The Sickness. Let me know if you would like me to burn them for you.
