Don't pick yourself or someone you know really well, because that's lame.

I maintain that you and [livejournal.com profile] hekatatia should meet, if only for the kaleidoscope of hair colors that would ensue. Unfortunately (fortunately?) that would require a trip to jolly old England right now, as she is attempting to set up house there with her equally interesting partner, Gavin. Click on pictures of him at your own peril; he's as good looking as she is dangerous.

Hek is a fantastically competent druid(ess) that I had the pleasure to meet during the Autumn Gathering up in Badgerland, err Wisconsin, a few years ago. She made us feel very welcome and put on one hell of an event, and improved my overall view of ADF for the better. She has never given me cause to change that opinion based on her actions.

She was also one of the first few people that I found on LJ, and I although we don't comment on each other's journals very often, I know that her opinion will be well-reasoned and most of all, honest. Having gotten to know her better through this medium, I would indeed like to see her again sometime, hopefully in the Isles.

I hope you visit! Gavin and I plan to set up a guest room when we get enough space (hopefully not too far down the road) and you're welcome to stay with us.

Tell me a bit about [livejournal.com profile] zylch, as I probably know her least of all y'all.

[livejournal.com profile] zylch is an enigma, wrapped in a conundrum, clothed in BDUs and freuqently interesting underwear. I know this not because I have gotten into her pants, but because she tells us this, presumably because of the perverse pleasure she gets in our reactions to the contrast.

Indeed, I have a terribly sororal relationship with her, which is not based on genetics, but possibly the fact that we both went to school in the Little Apple at one point, and enjoy many but not all of the same things. She's dogged in a pillow fight, and I suspect if she hadn't been so *hammered* she would have acquitted herself much better. She also enjoys climbing mountains if they're handy, rocks if she must, which is something that is on my To-Do list with her though she may not know it yet. We have a certain degree of physical resemblance (height and build), though she looks much better in a leopard-print bra-and-panty set than I do, I am sure. At least, that's what those who have the ability to look at her and not see "younger sister" tell me.

She is also frighteningly knowledgeable about things Ancient and/or Greek, and will demonstrate this at little or no provocation. Luckily, this ability does not diminish when she is drunk, although she does develop a tendency to over-Latinize words she can no longer clearly pronounce. Inebriatory linguistics, anyone?

Finally, I aspire one day to have as much jackleg carpentry skill in my whole body as she has in her left arm. But I suspect I will not live that long.

I don't remember the origin of my awareness of [livejournal.com profile] elfarrow, but it had to be sometime in April of this year. I know this, because his email address was one of the three or four signs that I had urging me to work out an arrangement with Taranis for Beltaine in the Park. Unfortunately, we know how that turned out, but I suspect if I ever need to work with that storm god again, I will have someone to turn to.

I really need to do this.

[livejournal.com profile] azanthia... where to start? We literally could write a book about the time we've known each other, or at least a decent soap opera plot arc. With the possible exception of [livejournal.com profile] leiandra and [livejournal.com profile] naiadea, I have known her the longest of anyone on LiveJournal, and I would like to say that I still know her best.

[livejournal.com profile] azanthia is the reason I almost moved to Boston instead of KC, and why I went back when General Assembly was there. We dated for years, off and on, despite never living closer than 1000 miles from each other (ahhh, the wonders of Internet romance and $300 phone bills). I once drove 24 hours, non-stop, so that I could greet her with the sunrise. I have done and shared things with her that will never be replaced or improved upon, and those would fill a second volume. She is still an angel in my world, although not *my* angel anymore, and I wish her the best of luck with her new girlfriend [livejournal.com profile] eye_c.

I could probably fill a slightly smaller volume with the ways in which we have fought, and disappointed, and irritated each other. I treated her poorly when I left her for the last time, and although it was for the best in the end, how it was done is still a big regret in my memory. She showed me so many of the things that I have come to treasure in life, both about dating and women, but also experience, creativity, and getting out there and doing it (after you research obsessively so that you know how to do it, of course!).

We still talk, though not as often as we should or would like to, and I know I can ask her anything, be it about Microsoft Excel, or painting my bathroom, or how to love someone without being a 'toad', and she will tell me the honest truth. I hope that she feels the same way.

I wish I knew more about [livejournal.com profile] magpiewiseman because he was specifically recommended to me by another friend as someone I should add. I did as I was bade, and found a wealth of interesting essays on subjects such as Time and Water in a journal that is updated all too infrequently. However, his signal-to-noise ratio is enviably high.

As he is physically significantly closer to you than me at the moment, I suspect that I will someday be asking you this same question.

[livejournal.com profile] chronarchy is a stunning example of the creature known as Homo neophilus. Not only is he physically impressive, being more than 6 feet of mostly arms and legs and smile, but he's not afraid of practically anything. He loves the new and the unusual, and will tell you stories that go on for several hours, and you're never sure (or really care) if they're true or not. He is a Discordian Druid, and the mild-mannered secret identity of the Assistant Preceptor of the ADF, where he helps those who are working on their Dedicant studies grow up to be good and faithful druids, especially if they can write a pagan ritual almost entirely composed of Jimmy Buffett songs. Indeed, his entire playlist is composed of Jimmy Buffett songs, so this should surprise no one.

He is, in addition, an irrepressible flirt, despite having a dedicated relationship with a woman back in Ohio who has the good sense not to be on LiveJournal. However as he himself will tell you, he's "just flirting", and never intends any harm or confusion by it. Luckily, he both means it, and is good at it. And despite an unfortunate tendency toward good-natured jealousy whenever more than one male (meaning him) is in the area, he gets along just fine with the men, too.

But really, what more can you say about a Republican who regularly castigates GWB, and a devout heterosexual who writes his congresscritters about gay rights?

[livejournal.com profile] occipitaldruid is that rare breed, a pagan in Salt Lake City. Thankfully, it seems she will be moving on to better environs and definitely better company soon.

She is the single mother of a delightful little girl (based on the pictures and stories), and a member of ADF, of course. Other than that, I only wish I could remember at some point to ask her the origin of her LJ name.

[livejournal.com profile] druidevo is a local boy, recently returned to the fold. He's been showing up at GC lately, though I'm not sure it's ever been on the same days as you. He has known [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants for longer than anyone else at Gaia, I believe, so she'd be the one to ask for more details.

But he is indeed a soon-to-be-ex-Marine (I think his discharge date is 7/14, but I could be wrong), and a Discordian goofball of the highest caliber. He could probably use some of your suave and tact with the ladies, but we all have problems.

Not only have you already asked a question (Step #1), but you're supposed to pick someone you don't know very well.

I am willing to be convinced, however, that this was not an illegal move.

As I mentioned in my journal, magicians cheat.

Besides, you didn't specify that we could only have one go. And although I percieve that I know you well, and you probably share that opinion, it is still a perception, and not an objective fact. As such, it requires confirmation in repeated tests.

So nyah.

OK

[livejournal.com profile] triadruid is a mystery to many, including himself at times. He never learned the fine art of conversation quite to the degree he should, preferring to read, listen, and in later years type. A wise friend once told him however, "You're so quiet, but once you start, you're impossible to shut up!" Some things have changed a lot since high school; that is not one of them.

The hair is longer, but thinner. The wit is less profane but more obscene. The reading material hasn't changed much, but the music tastes have. The religion has shifted, though exactly how different Druidry is from Anglican/Episcopalian is up for debate. The company he keeps is definitely different; 1 or 2 friends in 6th grade, 3-4 in 11th grade, and now easily a dozen good friends.

It's not without price. He truly is as an introvert living the life of an extrovert, on amphetamines. Making up for lost time? Maybe. Quality of companions? He hopes so, though there are times he still wants the world to go away and leave him alone in his own head. Other times, what's in his own head is reason enough to go seek out company, or other distraction.

He is both healthier than he looks, and more wounded. He won't volunteer much about himself, but if he trusts you he'll tell you anything. He is honest to a fault, frequently. He is still dishonest to himself and others about some times; some things are not ready to see the light.

Most of all, he's a Saggitarian with Scorpio tendencies, a Druid living in the Midwest by choice, and a crime-fighter with deviant tendencies. And he is eminently unelectable.
