As an aside, I had a poetry prof talk about how Germanic words are much more gutsy and to-the-point for poetry than Latinate words, packing more of a verbal wallop.

Ergo, masticate is chew, osculate is kiss, defecate is shit, fornicate is fuck, and so on.
