Happy Thoughts at Home
Dec. 16th, 2008 08:39 pmToday's happiness is centered around my ridiculously competent car. Nothing to look at, and a manual transmission to boot which means I'm the only one in my house who likes driving it; but the ability to manage snow and hills that make trucks cry, excellent gas mileage, and improbable hauling capacity, makes me smile. Especially during Snownami 2008...

Date: 2008-12-17 04:30 am (UTC)tobogganSaturn that's skeery.I think you may be the only one in the house who *can* drive your car, unless K drives stick and I've missed it. If someone's life depended on me driving them to the hospital in your car I could probably manage it, but I'm not sure I could promise that you'd be able to drive it away again.
Good that we're both happy with our respective cars, I reckon :)

Re: As someone looking to buy one at the moment.....
Date: 2008-12-18 04:25 pm (UTC)My first car was an '81 Mustang, which I had from around 89-90 until it died in '95. On the other hand, I have zero experience with Subarus.
But if I can't get another Saturn SC2 like my old one (saw one last night except it was a 5-speed, sigh), I'm kinda leaning toward things made by Honda and Toyota (particularly including Acura and Scion). Relatively recent Fords are probably next after that. But I have decided I need to be willing to go into debt to get a car that'll last a bit longer.
