Because I 99.44% DO NOT understand Calabi-Yau spaces, I give you: 14 convex pentagons that do tessellate.

I'm most fond of Type 4, actually. Although Type 11/12 would work well for anybody who likes even-toed ungulates...

What's your favorite?

I'm going with Type 14 as it was only found in 1985. One would think that the ancient Greeks would have vetted all these out, given their proclivity for geometry.

You'd think so, but the Greeks were focused more on the perfect and regular polygons. Straightedge and compass? Not much of the ungulate-foot symbolism seen thereunto.

I confess...

12 looks like a Ungulate Dance Map from Hell, doesn't it?

Type 10 seems to be my type--is it compatible with a Virgo?

Possibly. I'm a Virgo & 10 was one of my 2 favorites.

I don't know whether to laugh or scream at the idea that those things might tie into astrological figuring in some fashion...

...though now I'm wondering which ones we Virgos should avoid associating with.

And I don't follow astrology....

Sheesh.

superstrings!

As I understand it, all pentagons contain Calabi-Yau space.
I bet all pentagons tesselate in Calabi-Yau space.
All your space are belong to Calabi-Yau.

It's Friday. Time to step slowly away from the keyboard....

In 11-dimensional space, Calabi-Yau!

Or something...

I think I like 10 best, but that's mostly because I can see little Superman "S" symbols in each shape. Come to think of it, that would be a cool way to re-tile my bathroom...

I'm leaning toward 10 or 13.

10 reminds me of a quilt pattern & 13 reminds me of dragonflies.

Personally, I like type 9. It swims.

Yeah, 9 is fun, but would be extremely difficult to actually tile, I'm thinking. I guess you'd just have to start in one place and radiate Very Carefully...
