Stretched thin - also, doom!

I feel like I'm No Fun lately. I'm not sure it's true, and I'm not fishing for compliments; just kinda... worn threadbare.
Yesterday was Action!Packed!
After hardly being able to sleep (nerves and writing a newsletter), I got up, agonized over what to wear to thewedding handfasting I was performing *rolls eyes*, then set out to do it. Walked out the door and realized we'd forgotten to pick up tables from G.C. for the corner altars. No time to go get them, so I called
shahera5, but she was already on the other side of town from her house/where they were at. Ninja Strike at Target yielded four small tables, and another phone call saying that
shahera5 had arrived at the site and the wedding party brought tables along with all of their other materials. Good enough; got there a solid 40 minutes before noon, and went to go check on the grooms after making sure the site had everything. One of them I spotted easily, but the other was in discussion with the Museums whose back pavilion we were using. Apparently that pavilion is NOT part of the neighboring park, so the Parks & Recreation Department advice that the park was "first come, first serve" did not apply. Eventually the other groom was let go, and we started on time. They are now officially the Cutest Couple that Gaia Community has ever done a commitment ceremony for... really excellent fellows. Also, the new restaurant Harper's around the corner, where their reception was, is Fantastic! I hope they make it in this town that is very picky about restaurants, but Myra's service, presentation, and food are all top-notch in my view (and the price is very reasonable as well). Warning: Their website plays jazz music!
My stress level dropped a bit after that was taken care of; I'm sure the good food and vodka martini helped, and the sweet widow who was hitting on the "Reverend" didn't hurt either. :) A quick dash home to freshen up, then printing newsletters, furniture (window) shopping and Gaia's AIDS class. Unfortunately I was so tired I fell asleep at moments of the class, but I don't think I snored. Then we tried to go home and make dinner, but had to backtrack to get the newsletters that had to be mailed; by that time,
featherynscale was reaching "Feed Me Seymour"-o'clock, so we tried to go down to Sushi Haru. About that time the Storm-O-Doom was rolling in, and just as we pulled into the parking lot the entire shopping complex went dead, no power. And lo, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
So we fell back to Plan A, only to find that the primary component of Dinner (Plan A) had gone off. Cue wailing and gnashing of teeth, redux. Then the storm broke, and we went out in search of groceries/dinner. The first place we tried had just closed their kitchen (beer doesn't count as dinner, kids), but we ended up at 75th Street Brewery, listening to their Sunday Night house band, BrewJam. I've never see so many 'mundane' people actually get up and dance at a restaurant's band before, so major credit to them. They looked like they were having a lot of fun, mainly doing a freestyle mash-up of classic rock, rarely more than a verse and a half of any given song before flowing into something else.
Came back home, full and feeling much more human, and even got to sleep before midnight. But then...then, the Cricket Came Back. (okay, so it was probably a different cricket). But with the basement den empty of stuff, he had his very own Echo Chamber, so he sounded like the Cricket O' Doom! Didn't manage to squish this one, but chased him into (silent) hiding in the wall. Of course, now I'm awake at 3AM, so I go upstairs to putter for a bit, come back downstairs, try to sleep, get back up, go back down, realize I have something I have to send out before 8AM, email that out, come back down to go to bed...and the morning alarm goes off. Blargh. I begged off for another 15 minutes, which turned into more like an hour, then rolled my happy ass into work clothes and came in for the Monday.
Not my best day. On the other hand, I've had a lot worse.

Next time you two wind up at 75th Street Brewery, feel free to toddle on 3 blocks south to my house and bring me along. ;)
