On further reflection, I have no good answer to that. It is both compelling (yes, stunningly so) and also offensive in some way. I'm just not sure why. I like to watch men kiss (in an exciting, night-time telly way), I like to watch either of those two individuals do damned near anything - you'd think I'd get no cognitive dissonance from this at all.

*shrug*

Best I can manage is that I'm bothered by characters acting out of character... and even that's weak. More study required.

Of course, this occurred to me when I realized that Orlando Bloom was using the same kiss on Depp that kittenpants used on me last night, when imitating iron_clad with such devastating effect...

Nope. Rule #2 violations take place solely with the violator's head. I did not choose whether or not to visualize this, it was just there, compelling and horrifying. It's a train wreck :)

It's been irking me all day, but I finally figured out what the train wreck for me is; the lighting is all wrong. With the light coming from behind Bloom and a little to his right, the side of Depp's face that we see should be mostly in shadow, not in full light.

Other than that, it's just a matter of being jealous -- I don't generally like people using my legal name, but Orlando can call me 'Elizabeth' any damn time. Rowr.
