SelectSmart has a new presidential candidate chooser; I think I liked their last one better, but maybe it's just early.

Still, it gives me something to start with, at least:
  1. Theoretical Ideal Candidate
  2. Alan Augustson (campaign suspended) (75%) - figures...
  3. Barack Obama (69%) - not terribly suprising
  4. Dennis Kucinich (68%) - okay, now that's a little surprising
  5. Joseph Biden (67%)
  6. Hillary Clinton (66%)
  7. Christopher Dodd (61%) - I really ought to know who he is by now
  8. John Edwards (61%)
  9. Wesley Clark (not running, endorsed Clinton) (61%) - why?
  10. Al Gore (not announced) (61%) - heh.
  11. Bill Richardson (56%)
  12. Mike Gravel (56%)
  13. Michael Bloomberg (says he will not run) (54%) - darn
  14. Ron Paul (41%) - heh2
...and it goes downhill from there.

::edit:: Of course, I'd have to take all of them to find out where I really stand, or maybe I could just do some research on my own....nah, didn't think so. Not when I have the Internet to do my thinking for me!

::second edit:: Here's another onefrom GoToQuiz, with (of course) vastly different results:
83% Chris Dodd
81% Barack Obama
80% John Edwards
79% Hillary Clinton
77% Mike Gravel
77% Dennis Kucinich
77% Joe Biden
68% Bill Richardson
52% Rudy Giuliani
40% John McCain
33% Mitt Romney
30% Mike Huckabee
26% Tom Tancredo
23% Fred Thompson
18% Ron Paul

Meh. I got the same top three as you (discounting the TIC), at about the same percentages. Also, is it at all relevant whether they're married or not?

I was trying to sort out why I couldn't de-weight age and marital status other than "any of the above", and couldn't manage to get a slider to go back to "medium" importance once I moved it.

Yeah, I just picked everything in the statistical categories, figuring that would give equal points to everyone. I didn't think to reset any sliders, though.

Mine was...

Theoretical Ideal Candidate (100%)
Barack Obama (89%)
Dennis Kucinich (78%)
Alan Augustson (campaign suspended)

I was surprised that HC wasn't first. I always thought she and I were more inline than BO.

I was surprised that DK was right up there on my list...

I was also surprised at how close you and I were in it's choices for us... I don't know why that is.

Alan Augustson was running for the Green Party nomination...for a while, then he stopped. While I agreed with most of his positions, he pissed me off - in that I got persstantly spammed by his campaign (multiple messages per day) and he never stopped despite several attempts on my part to ask him to stop.
It'll be interesting to see if they add Cynthia McKinney to the mix, since it now appears that she's running for the Green Nomination.
