Shiny new hardware arrived yesterday, so it was time to open up my computer and see what I could fix ([livejournal.com profile] featherynscale graciously got the process started while I was still at work).

It comes down to this: Internet is back up. Most of the programs I had before are installed on my new operating system (no longer two years out of date!). Unfortunately, the new OS uses a different file structure than the old, so my old hard drive's data is available yet. Working on that.

And email's not active, because I don't know what my blinking password is. Will call TWC/RR soon and get that sorted out. But for now, I'm mostly back (like you all really noticed I was 'gone'). And more importantly, my other thirds can have their computers again.

62-foot Jesus; not just a good band name. As [livejournal.com profile] ottercat (who I got this from) says: "Methinks I could have found better uses for the ($250,000.00), like, oh, maybe funding an homeless shelter for several years? Or feeding the poor, or caring for the sick. Hanging out with tax collectors, sinners, and prostitutes? (sorry, couldn't resist) You know, things like Jesus would have done?"
