Due to a variety of factors, I eventually cheered up last night (not least of which being that it's nigh-impossible to say "Awww, Missus J!" in a bad New York accent without cracking up), and the annual porch party went off without a hitch and with zero drama (always a plus!). Of course, some people seemed to forget that it was Wednesday, not Friday/Saturday, and thus were draggin' ass this morning, but that's what we used to call a Natural Consequence. ;)

We did have a stunning lack of trick-or-treaters last night, did anyone else notice this? We started to get a few around 6 before we were really set up, then they came heavily for about an hour, and by 8 we'd seen the last of them! I don't remember being able to shut the door before 10 PM, before!

[livejournal.com profile] featherynscale has pictures of the party (not entirely Work Recommended) and the Second Stupid Pumpkin Project, the first of course being Pumpkinhenge from some years ago.

On the stunning lack of trick-or-treaters ... aside from the one family that lives in the building who we caught as they were walking in and said "we have candy, you can 'trick or treat' us", we had NONE.

I wasn't surprised last year when that was the case, but there are several families of kids in buildings 9 and 10 now and I think they all know K, K, E, and I are kid friendly and celebrate holidays (I feel like I should toss in an E, I, E, I, O now).

Although perhaps the manner of "celebrating" holidays might tend to keep family-types away ;-)

Well,we always try to keep the non-kid-safe costumes and party games indoors/upstairs until the front door can be closed after the trick-or-treaters stop coming...

It's certainly kid-tolerant, I'll grant you that. But mine are at an age now where they wanted to go someplace that kids would *outnumber* adults and generally have a more kid-centric evening...oh, well. Glad you all had a great time. :)

That's fine, and understandable; the worst case scenario was that you were staying away because [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn was going to be there, and [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn was staying away because you were going to be there...

Damn partial information. :P

Nope. Just a chain reaction. R and E were with M Mac, so my M went with R.

Sounds like algebra, almost.

Nope.

I ended up being needed for trick-or-treat patrol instead of staying at home for handing out candy because [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn had more work to do than he'd bargained for, but Halloween Must Go On!

Also, I had that bodice on for about 15 hours (only the third time I'd worn it), so it started to cut off circulation to my brain, else I would have called. Sorry. :)

I was referring to why we may not have had trick-or-treaters here ... the apartments are small enough that it isn't terribly practical for us to observe similar precautions (although last night was quite tame).

Yes, but unless you pull the curtains you can still see in.

I noticed a severe lack of trick-or-treaters all over. We only saw two groups on the way there. 0 in our neighborhood.
