Back in town, back at work. But you're not interested in that, you want to know how Round 1 turned out!

Voting ended up very close, but [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale edged out a win over [livejournal.com profile] lilia_blackbear with her grave robbing. What is it with you guys and death?? Samhain is months away...

Vote TotalsHonorable mention goes to [livejournal.com profile] lexpendragon, who submitted something like seven answers before he decided on his actual choice, and [livejournal.com profile] saffronhare who combined this game with Balderdash and provided a fake etymology for her answer (go back and check the original post to see, submissions have been unscreened at this point).

A couple of questions for future rounds:
  1. You'll notice I put an answer into the voting round, as well. I did this because a) I like to play the creative round, and b) I wanted to see if anyone would choose mine over the other players. Since all the voting is out in the open (and I can't vote obviously), this seemed fair, but if anyone yells, I won't do it in the future. For the record, I'll do this at the beginning of the submission round, before I see anyone else's answers.
  2. There was some concern about public voting leading to strategic pile-ons (voting the round's leader for the extra point). I'll try next round with secret voting until everything's completed, then reveal at the end. Overall, though, lilia's surge at the end of the round leads me to believe this won't be a big problem.
  3. Someone suggested theme rounds (for instance, all answers involve sci-fi, or nursery rhyme characters, or foul language). We could try that if people are interested, but you lot are smart and clever without my help.
  4. How long do you think the acronyms should get? The original/quick game varies between 3 and 7, which require very different skill sets...

Glad you liked it, even if you thought you were doing it wrong. :P

Some things are fun, whether you're doing them right or not. :)

I don't know if I like them for every round -- once in a while, like once a month, maybe? Or some other periodic rate that agrees better with everyone.

Yeah, I wouldn't do them every round, but maybe take suggestions during the Scoring/Results rounds...anything that catches fire would be a good candidate.

You could ask for a vote on the theme of the next round when people vote for favorites (the Bezerk game had a vote in between rounds), with one of the choices being Theme-free. I would be happy to generate a vast list of themes, if you like. (That is the way my brain works.)

Well, the next theme should obviously be death. Maybe sexy death to include the top three.

And A theme would help narrow down the suggestions, because I tend to sit there and come up with item after item, and have to pick which one to count.
