[livejournal.com profile] featherynscale had already fled upstairs. I slowly crept around the corner, found a weapon, and returned, all in darkness and as much silence as I could manage. Then I turned on the lights, one by one, to corner him. Much scuffle ensued, and I'm afraid her room is a little the worse for wear. But after many blows, he finally stopped leaping at me and succumbed. I disposed of the body, and triumphantly climbed the stairs.

[livejournal.com profile] featherynscale was at the top of the stairs, passed out on the couch and obviously exhausted from the ordeal. The adrenaline was jumping in my veins, but I woke her as gently as I could and said, "It's over. He's dead."

Fuckin' crickets.

A (k)ight's tale....

Yet were the house in asia, it would have been a good thing.
I hope the Honey dipped one, slept well once the beast had been vanquished, and that her hero was properly rewarded for his couageous onslaught during the battle?

I kill my own spiders.
I can change my own oil.
I can take out my own trash.

Want to make me squeal like a girl? Throw one of those odd looking cricket looking things in my bathtub and have it jump at me as I step in for a shower. I went to work Friday without having a shower because I didn't want to wake up [livejournal.com profile] osh to kill it & remove it from the shower.

The house centipedes?? yeah, those things are frigging wild. This was just an ordinary, good-luck brown cricket.

Still annoying at midnight, 1am, 2am, 3;30am, 4 am, 5am, 6am, 6:30am, 7am, 8am...

Not a centipede. This thing looks like a cross between a brown spotted cricket & a daddy longlegs. It's insane looking. Not a noise maker that I can find either.

I've seen 3 in our bathroom in the last week. The biggest one's body was bigger than my thumbnail. Not something you want to have jump out of your spare paper stash at you while sitting on the throne. I beat that one to death repeatedly myself with a book (only because I couldn't run), squealing/squeaking like a girl the whole time. I did leave the body for [livejournal.com profile] osh to remove. The two in the shower....not my kills.

What's so wrong with crickets?? Actually, I usually never see them alive as I have a mighty huntress for a cat!

hey, those things just love your basement... When I was using the new vacuum down there, one went mad, but I chased it down and sucked it up.
the really gross one was J and I spent half the night trying to find it, and when I was driving home the next morning, I was all uncomfortable with my shoes, and so I took them off and the crickett was inside one of them, all semi dead and smushed onto my sock... EWWW! it was sooo gross...

I can't hear any crickets around my place. That isn't a good thing. It's because the noise from the thousands of locusts drowns them out.

They're outside my window now: wheeer, wheer, wheer, wheer ...

if you want to come over here and track down the little bugger in our basement, we could sure use the quiet again...

it was a weekend for killin' stuff evidently. yesterday, i had the rather sad task of having to kill a little bird that our cat, Inanna, had caught, maimed, and defeathered. (how she accomplished this last i have no idea.)
