I spent all my smrt points over the long weekend, apparently. So far today I have:
  • Stayed up waaaaay too late playing video games
  • Remembered my evening meeting right before leaving for work (which meant I had to drive myself in rather than carpooling)
  • Forgotten my work badge, which meant I had to buy my way into the parking garage, and go through the metal detectors at City Hall
  • Used the last of the sugar in the office (all 1/4 tsp of it) for my coffee this morning, which meant just-barely-sweetened-but-not-really Folgers. Ugh.
Okay, so the last part really wasn't my fault, but I'm claiming it as indicative...

::edit:: And now, my usericon seems to have gone AWOL, though that may just be the proxy server. The hell, I ask you?

Missing for me, too.

I had an icon go missing recently too. Unfortunately I don't have the thumbnail file anymore, so in my CFT I'll make a new one from the picture.

Missing as in it doesn't show up on http://www.livejournal.com/allpics.bml?user=capriciouslass at all? Mine still is selectable, it's just not showing up today... weird.

It was selectable when I tried to use it, but when I went to look at my icon list it was gone.

You know, the coffee at my new place is the worst ever, but on the plus side they always have at least 20 cannisters of refined sugar in the cabinets.

Granted, when I got into my health kick a few years back, I cut out the refined sugars, so I keep Raw Sugar or Honey at my desk. Since I pay for it, that helps me keep the usage reasonable (thrifty Scot thing) and the sugars are better for me than high-fructose stuff which I try to keep to a minimum.

I don't usually even drink coffee, but today was One Of Those Days™ where caffeine was going to be a biological imperative. If I was clever, I'd grab one of the eleventy-twelve types of sweeteners we have at home and bring it in; I was just surprised to see our office/floor without any at all. Even a packet of honey from Church's was not found...

We have a whole box of Sugar in the Raw packets from [livejournal.com profile] zylch's place at home. You could take them in tomorrow, so as to have a stash. No matter how generally well-stocked one's office is, one can always benefit from a stash of one's own.

(My stash consists of Excedrin migraine, honey packets, and three different kinds of tea.)

Oh ick! I recall the honey sauce from KFC... I think it was called "Pure Honey Sauce". Sure enough, it was corn syrup with "honey flavoring".

Burger King does the same thing. Yuk!

It seems odd that they could label them such. At least with Arby's "Horsey Sauce" there is no question that it is adulterated horseradish.

As long as it says "honey sauce" instead of "honey," it's legal. Same way that "cheese" must be a dairy product, but "cheese food" (which is neither!) needn't ever have been near a cow.

Right, I am aware of the labeling allowances, and understand why that is. But there is currently a big wave of litigation pending because of all the "italian" foods made in other countries, then labeled with Italian flags, labels in Italian, pictures of Italian buildings, and then down in a corner somewhere - "Product of Brazil". I am looking forward to see how that pans out. I am an avid label reader, but product labeling is like spam, they are always coming up with new ways to get past our filters. Like when Dole's Grapefruit juice switched from apple juice as a sweetener to high fructose corn syrup, their label didn't change, just the taste did, which made me re-read the label.

On the plus side, it has gotten me to buy a lot more "fixin's" for food rather than fixed food.

Yeah, there's like ONE place that still uses packets of real honey...I'm thinking it's Church's because it's a favorite of [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale but I may be wrong.

The raw sugar is a clever idea, actually.

I got a two pound bulk box for work after being turned on to it at the Turner house from the time I was looking for "unrefined sugar".

Church's does, and also Popeye's. I can't vouch for anybody else, on the grounds that the only sort of fast food thing that I generally want to eat honey on is spicy chicken fingers. :)

Splenda is the real deal--all the sweetness, none of the carbohydrate. Expensive, yeah....

i love the dictionary definitions of "smrt." especially the part about "death in most slavic languages," considering it's usage...

Today I started back on decaff coffee, sweetened vanilla soy instead of mostly cream and sugar in regular strong coffee. The trouble is that apparently to my unconscious mind the soy container and the juice container are interchaneable. Tangerine juice in coffee no good-really.

Better than cream in your tangerine juice though, I'll bet.
