  1. What's the worst film you've ever seen, and am I (partly) responsible
for the fact that you saw it?

I'm fairly certain you're not responsible for it. I didn't get Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, but that's not the same thing (I do have a question back about that one, by the way). Probably the worst movie I've ever seen start-to-finish was Dungeons & Dragons, and the worst one I never completed was Koyaanisqatsi or whatever that concept piece was; fell asleep three times trying, on different nights even.

  2. Do you have vacation time from work piled up that we don't know about?

Nope. After the last two vacations I've taken, I probably have somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 days left.

Apparently; according to my latest check stub, I have 75.9 hours of vacation and 161.6 hours of sick time available to me; actually, they haven't deducted any sick time yet, which is slightly perplexing... but not unwelcome.

  3. If you were offered a chance to go forward in time ten years to see how your life would be progressing, would you take it?

Depends; is this a free-will universe or not? If so, yes. If not, not. Forewarned is forearmed, but fucked over is just fucked over.

  4. What is it that you wish someone would do for you that nobody does? (Someone here is anybody at all. You can specify who you would like to do the thing for you if it's relevant, but you don't have to.)

There are very few things in life that I never get, which I actually want. However I occasionally wish I had the sort of (birth) family that bought you improbable items of high value at random.

  5. How badly would you have to be treated at a job before you would quit?

Inconsistent expectations. Illegal *and* immoral job duties. Work hours not commensurate with getting paid a living wage. I think any of those would do it...

(I do have a question back about that one, by the way)
Does that mean you're going to ask me questions? Woo!

I'll ask you five, if you like, but the one about Fear and Loathing is this: Why, if the original situation was an interview with Acosta about race riots in LA, did that equate to going to Las Vegas to go on a drug-fueled bender, for Thompson? Does something in the book, or the original Rolling Stone piece, explain the rationale for "getting out of the city" = "license to party"?

It didn't have anything to do with the race riots in LA in the book. Just as in the film, the stated goal of the expedition was to cover the Mint 500, and then the drug conference.

Presumably it's one of those "inspired by reality" sort of pieces. I really don't know how much of it actually happened, and how much he invented.

So I'm no help at all, really.

1. What sort of goggles would you like to have, if money/technology were no object?
2. Would you rather be a chosen minority (pagan, poly, etc) or pre-determined minority (race, disability, etc)?
3. Assume you never left Florida. What would your biography look like?
4. Why not excess? Or rather, why not continue tripping once you moved here?
5. If they put you in charge of programming at a TV station, what would your schedule look like? Daily, evening only, Sat. morning, late-night...be as specific as you like.
