Good luck! I recommend the freezable/microwavable gelpacks, frozen, stuffed in your underpants. That's how I got through the weekend after mine.

You'll want to get two or three, so that you can have a couple in the freezer at any given time.

That's an excellent idea, I'll probably pick some up in the morning!

What time is your procedure? You might want to make sure you get them early enough for them to be frozen when you get home afterwards.

The ones that I have come with a light-weight, removable cloth wrapping and elastic strap - they're designed for shoulders or knees or feet or whatnot. This is important because you don't want the cold plastic right up against your skin, but for maximum cooling you don't want the wrapper to be thicker than, say, a paper towel.

Actually, it looks like they were picked up for me tonight, so all's well. The advice about the balance between cold and discomfort is well taken.

I seem to recall that the best way I found (through trial and error) to secure the ice pack was to wear it between two pairs of briefs, cloth wrapper optional. Your mileage may vary.

I was wondering when that graphic would show up again.

And I'd lend you an ice pack for your stash, but... well, I don't think I'd want it back, ya know?

(Think of it as)"taking the bullets out of the gun. Now you'll be able to point it at anybody, they won't care...."

Seriously, good luck with all that. Positive thoughts and wishes and healing energy your way...

Vicoden is your friend. And seriously, its not that bad...at least that's what I have observed.

Plus, you don't have a toddler trying to jump on you while you recover...

You are so cute. Healing thoughts and smooches. Oh, and would you smooch your other thirds for me as well?? Before the operation, of course.

May the knife be sure, may the local take effect first ([livejournal.com profile] osh hadn't quite gone numb yet), may the drugs be good, may the ice packs be plentiful, may the 2/3 be grateful.

Ask [livejournal.com profile] osh for post-op suggestions/tips.

Best of luck to ya, though you'll not need it. And hey, if nothing else just think of this: After tomorrow, you will have become the only man I would ever consider sleeping with. ;o) (I love men. They are hot. But...that stuff is dangerous, and girls don't have it. So I play with them. More.)
