Got to get some peace in my mind
Apr. 18th, 2005 11:38 amFell asleep last night at about 9:30 again, which I suppose means I needed the 10 hours of sleep more than I thought I did. Looking back over my journal, I posted similarly last Tuesday morning, which may be indicative of something... looking in the mirror, I'd opine that the garment bags under my eyes have been downgraded to carry-on status. I'm 30, I'm allowed to have permanent lines on my face now, right? :/
Anyway, it was a good weekend right up until that point where I passed out (sorry,
featherynscale, for not coming downstairs to snuggle). Friday night was burgers and brats and buns, all three delightful, and teaching the middle-size Turner dragonling to knock nerf spears out of the air. Useful skill, that, for a Celt. She also learned an important skill, in learning to shrug off the pain surprise of being *hit* while fighting, and being "ready to go back into battle now". Taxes later that night were not such a fun battle, but the less said about that right now, the better. And then Decoration of Chalices, Part Twelve (more on that in a bit)...
Saturday morning was a trip to Topeka to talk to a bunch of UUs about planning a regional cluster of congregations, which wasn't *nearly* as painful as it sounds. Actually had a few good things come out of it, and reaffirmed that someone else sees the "every group I talk to thinks they're *so* unique...", which was nice. Saturday afternoon, more Chalices to be Decorated, but the end was in sight. That evening was the Ritual Teams Dedication (in which I mainly dedicated to staying off teams in the summer due to my work schedule, but also actually re/starting my Dedicant's Program for ADF). And more nerf sabers. So many nerf sabers, from so many different directions. Big ones, little ones, long ones, short ones, ones poking you in the butt, ones smacking you in the calf. There are rules? Pshaw. Keep your leg back, next time. ;)
Sunday, slept in significantly past where I expected, but ritual preparation was almost done, and the ritual itself went off with hardly a hitch. Warm weather means open doors, of course, which means lawnmowers, of course. Did I mention there were lawnmowers for the dedication ritual Saturday evening, too? Coincidence? Some think so... In any case, 4 of the 7 bags of chalices went away, which makes the remainder of the pledge drive that much simpler for me and the almost-Treasurer,
druidevo. It seems like they were a hit... a few Awful Things were said, but it's been a while since that's happened, so we were probably due.
Much toasting and drinking in ritual, so no room (or money, for that matter) for going out to dinner afterward, so we winged it home and opened our doors to the after-crowd...until we kicked them out in the kindest way possible, so we could go take a bath. Did I mention warm weather?
All in all, a good weekend. Today my immediate task is to Clean the Desk, as part of my problem is not being able to find what I'm looking for, and getting distracted by something else while I'm looking... and right on schedule, it's time for my Beltane password (they expire every 90 days, conveniently), and putting up my mini-maypole again.
::edit:: But I forgot my rings today. Oops. Oh well, it'll let the calluses on my hands heal up a bit.
::second edit:: And for those who know her locally, it looks like

Date: 2005-04-18 06:12 pm (UTC)Is okay. I was asleep in about 20 minutes anyway. And didn't sleep well, what with the tossing and turning and kicking and flailing, so it was probably just as well that you were not in the bed to be kicked and flailed and tossed and turned upon.
Anyway, you don't have permanent lines on your face. You just need more sleep than you get. I sincerely hope that now that ritual teams is no longer your responsibility for a while that more sleeping will be coming your way. Unfortunately, I know you, and I expect that rather than taking the released time to take care of yourself, you'll find some other project to throw yourself into :|. (I poke you because I love you).

Date: 2005-04-18 08:22 pm (UTC)I do think the dark circles are becoming permanent, however, but I'll let you get very close to me in order to be sure, if you like.

Date: 2005-04-18 08:52 pm (UTC)That's all right; you'll pay. Oh yes, you will pay! Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon - and for the rest of your life! I WILL have my revenge! MWA! HA! Ha... er, did you say "Featherynscale"?
Sorry, my mistake.

Date: 2005-04-19 04:57 am (UTC)See you tomorrow night. I've already printed off the handouts, and my personal copy of the pronunciation guide, but I can make more (it's a hack job).
Awful?
