A certain 'moral flexibility'
Sep. 27th, 2004 01:57 pmWent to see Collateral this weekend, it was surprisingly Not Bad for being a Cruise/Foxx flick. Actually I didn't realize it was directed by Michael Mann (who I really liked for Heat) until later, so now I'm slightly less surprised. But if you've been avoiding it, it's not likely to be in the theater much longer; I'll probably even go see it with you again if you want. It was that impressive, in my view. The cinematography and some of the plot developments especially...
Anyway, afterward I was discussing with
kittenpants my fascination with assassins (compare/contrast, her fascination with serial killers). I don't know if it's competence, professionalism, or just controlled violence, but they really intrigue me. The Terminator, Grosse Point Blank, Boondock Saints, Desperado, Underworld, James Bond, Pulp Fiction...all over it, man. Very interesting stuff.
It's even made me wonder what sort of 'moral flexing' it would have taken for me to pursue a different track. Some days, it doesn't seem like that much, when I'm frustrated with the world. Some days, it seems like a little more. With that in mind...a meme to watch over me:

Sig Sauer P226. Greatest gun ever! Feel special.
Beautiful and reliable but can still scare the
living bejesus outta anyone.
What handgun are you?

On a fairly unrelated note, I seem to have continued my streak of no broken bones by just bruising the #3|| out of my little toe last night... small victories.

Speaking of lists, my journal is a VISA-waiver country, so you're welcome to the machine, if you so desire. I've been thinking about adding a couple of SPiRaLites myself (although I have no idea of that's the right capitalization). This just gives me an excuse! ;)
