Observations on Stochastic Hiking

• Hiking with a Chaos Hound on a lead through the woods is very much like hiking with an 8-year-old boy with ADD.


• Hiking with a Chaos Hound without a lead through the woods is exactly like hiking with an 8-year-old boy with ADD.


• Chaos Hounds are faster than 8-year-olds when they see a deer, though.


• They are better about finding their way back, at least.


• No one's really sure which of us got muddier.

Overall, though, hiking through the woods and the rain and the mud on a Saturday afternoon with a dog is an excellent sanity break; if you're a surly ranger type, anyway.

You should try hiking through a trail through Lake Jacomo with, get this, a large, hyper dog, an eight year old who could have ADD, a whiney 12 year old, a Greta, and her dog. What fun. You go!!! Next my my monsters want to hike through the woods (trails) you take them!!

try this...walking the woods at the lake with a very large horse (great dane) and a very excited cow (yellow lab who wanted to go swimming) with 3 kids under 8. LOL!! the one sad bit it that bryce nearly got strangled with baron's leash because mac decided that running baron would wear the dog out. it did however wear mac out. LOL!

Yeah, I tried the 'run-the-dog' thing along the railroad tracks and along smoother sections of the trail, but he's got boundless energy, whereas mine definitely has an upper bound. ;)

i think the only way you can wear a dog out is to wait until they are old and overweight. much like what has happened with our cow.
