I was originally going to filter this post for just the potential Crescent Sorcerers in our upcoming game, but I thought it'd be more fun with a broader audience. Non-gamers feel free to pass on by...
[Poll #1296812]As always, comments on things I've left out are welcome. We're actually thinking of using a slightly modified ability score determination system, but I want to get a feel for the power/consistency level the players want, first.

::edit:: Heh, I think PCGen just gave me my next character name: Michael McKanic.

I thought of just choosing Darts but I'm not the Discordian one and it was less honest and more funny.

Oh, well, it's not like I have time to play. :)

I was going to swipe your black hat guy / black hat girl icon, but I see you don't have it anymore. SAD! Also, you should replace your family icon -- we don't look much like that anymore...

Yeah, I know I need to update/retire that family one.

The black hat guy/girl one isn't on LJ, it was made specifically for last.fm. Feel free to gank it, though...

speaking of icons, your calvin flailing icon looks a mite strange...

Huh! Okay, that was very weird; it was showing up as a picture of this guy looking straight at the camera and grinning. Just as an offchance thing though, I cleared my cache and reloaded, and now it's fine.

Fecking wierd.

Should you ever want to play a 1st edition AD&D game or Lejendary Adventure, let me know. Or, heck, most any game that isn't 2nd, 3rd, or 4th edition (A)D&D (though I could probably do 2nd ed).

Yeah, I'm a bit of an old school gamer...I did begin gaming with miniatures and wargames....

Party leader: "Everyone! They're behind you! FIRE BEHIND YOU!"

Me (The point guy): Turns and unloads six shots from laser into party leader's back.

Party leader: Increment clone counter.

God, I loved PARANOIA.

Ironically, that's exactly who was running our game. :D

We just had too many schedules to coordinate to keep the group going... I think we had 10 players, plus D.

Responded to the poll. Would have seen it earlier if I did more than just skim the friends page, anyway, taken care of!

I actually had hoped for multiple choice on the last question. As a DM I do a combo of "Enough of the party will survive to resurrect the rest", "Cautious and careful, avoiding it whenever possible", "True Resurrection", and TPK. It all depends on the players and the situation.

No problem, we're just trying to match what we're preparing with what the players want, at least for setup and maybe lethality (but see BH comment above).

Oh, sure, and different situations will be different for you guys. :) We just wanted to match what we were preparing to throw at you with the style of game you're looking for...

Now that I think about it a bit more, I see it more in a continuum.

Younger, newer groups start with Cautious and Careful.
As things move along, someone will die (due to ignorance or bad rolls) instituting either TR or Enough of the party will depending on if they have a healer or enough $$ to do it.

TPK is more for groups who have been around a bit, are far enough along in the game that the TPK is the end game resolution or we are dissolving the group. TPK does not thrill me. It bugs me 99% of the time actually. The closest TPK situation was the Fireball from the Hat at the GG recently. That was freaking cool.
