On a lighter note, go see Stardust
Aug. 20th, 2007 10:29 amThe other thing of note that happened yesterday (besides the UUA Forum) was that
featherynscale and I went to see Stardust. I recommend it, especially if you like the madcap pace & hijinks of The Princess Bride; it's very much in that vein. The actors generally do a good-to-screamingly-funny job; the director is fairly new which explains some pacing issues (and they did a good job of adapting the pacing of the middle of the book to the big screen). The music, however, is derivative and distracting. I'm hoping it was an intentional pastiche/homage/parody, because otherwise somebody got robbed...
I'd go see it again, and I'd probably even buy it.

Date: 2007-08-20 06:03 pm (UTC)The sex scene I believe happens in the opening bit when they're explaining Dustan/Tristan, right? If so, it's implied by a closing door, not shown in any way. All outfits are totally street-legal. There's some genderbending, which I doubt will bother him. There's no realistic blood, as far as I can remember (one guy bleeds blue, apparently), but a fair amount of swordfights and several fairy-tale deaths.
I think he'll be fine.
