V called, and he said your movie sucks
Mar. 26th, 2007 04:26 amOw. Just woke up from possibly the worst action film I've never seen.
Somehow, it involved afriend cousin/son of a friend of
featherynscale's who was an aspiring filmmaker, and his new show was debuting in a small local movie house (a cross between community theatre and art house cinema). The story, such as it went, was about a character whose origins lay shrouded in the mystery of a young man who used to dance at a tavern/bar, Ceilidh-style, with the assistance of a red bandanna that had been rolled into a cord. The bandanna is important, believe me. This man's dancing was fascinating and compelling with his bandanna-cord wrapped around his palm, but this was not his story. He somehow taught/passed on his bandanna dancing skill to someone else (the director, starring in his own film) who then used the dance (and the bandanna!) to become a fifth-rate superhero, fighting crime.
It was all very V-for-Vendetta-by-way-of-Orgazmo, which might not have been so bad if the director had either intended it to be campy, or finished the film. Unfortunately, during the intermission following Act I (it was a very long, slowly-paced act), he confessed to
featherynscale that he hadn't finished the film, and would she please sneak him off the property? Dream-feathery went along with this, whereas I'm certain the real thing would have had a somewhat different reaction. I didn't know where we were going until we were driving out of the parking lot in our vehicle (an old van, I think), through the gathering angry mob and the futilely conciliatory moviehouse owner, to go around the building and pick him up from his car on the other side. At which point I believe I said "Oh HELL no we're not doing this", got out of the van, hauled him out of his car and proceeded to beat the crap out of him.
Then the dream degenerated into a branching-futures mishmash of all the results of that fight, some of which were very 'viscerally' satisfying but not productive, such as a backbreaker Pro-Wrestling finish or impaling him upside down on a pole of some sort, and writing "V called, and he said your movie sucks" on the mirror.
Oi. (cut for graphic violence and bad cinema)
