I was originally going to filter this post for just the potential Crescent Sorcerers in our upcoming game, but I thought it'd be more fun with a broader audience. Non-gamers feel free to pass on by... )

::edit:: Heh, I think PCGen just gave me my next character name: Michael McKanic.

  1. Someone has borrowed my Path of Daggers book, I just realized when I wanted to look something up yesterday. Anyone want to fess up/return it? I have a couple of suspects based on who has been reading RJ lately, but I'll not name names, since I didn't even remember loaning it out.
  2. Tuesday is Celebrate Bisexuality Day. I have no idea as yet what I'll be doing to observe that lil' holiday, seeing as I have a orgy meeting at my house that evening. Suggestions welcome.
  3. Speaking of suggestions, one of my bumper stickers is dying the final, sun-baked death. It's the "Freedom of Religion Means Any Religion" one, which now looks more like:
    Images behind cut )
Ideas for a replacement? I'm contemplating getting an Obama sticker, but we're not supposed to be campaigning on the job, and sometimes I need to take my car to work events. Other strong possibilities would be a Gaia Community bumper sticker, or one of the random belligerent Celt stickers we have rattling around the house...

I was, as you might imagine, a huge X-Files fan back in the day (geeky teenager/college student without much of a social life, plus a seriously geeky/creepy Friday night show? Sign me up!) I still am, though it's tempered to the point where I haven't seen the second film yet. I think I missed a half-dozen episodes overall, mostly in the last two forgettable seasons.

Favorite episode? Nearly impossible to narrow it down that much, but "Ice" from the first season was a big favorite even in repeat viewings, and "One Breath" from Season Two. Oh, hell, let's just do 9 of them )

Favorite of all of those? Probably "The Sixth Extinction"...

Based on a conversation the other day, humor me.

For some reason, Dragon*Con planning this year has been a near wash. I'm not anticipating completing my "big crazy" costume (Sammael) again this year, which is a shame because it really wants me to have short hair.

Aside from the usual costumes-you-can-pull-out-of-my-closet-ready-to-wear (Asha'man, pirate, kilt, etc), what might I put together for this year? Ideas you'd like to see me go as? No reasonable offers will be ridiculed.

The only 'new' one I've come up with so far is John Constantine. Investment is pretty minimal (he's also supposed to have short hair, but I'm not going for a costume contest with that one); a pack of Silk Cut cigarettes and maybe a plain black tie. He's got tattoos in the film, but I think those don't exist in the comic. I even have a blue pin stripe suit, but I'll be buggered go to hell before I wear THAT shit in Atlanta in August. Oh wait, same thing. ::edit:: Shite, forgot the part that 'makes' the costume: We have this pair of angel wings lying around in our costume closet, see? So if one was, hypothetically, to daub the back end of them in faux ichor and sling them over the shoulder like a trophy... instant Constantine-on-a-bad-day!

So we've mashed together Nikolai Tesla, Ben Franklin, passenger pigeons, the French losing WW II, dilithium crystals, and the Statue of Liberty into a causality chain tonight (while stone cold sober, no less).

[Poll #1193020]

The options are, of course, not all mutually exclusive.

Anybody familiar with logic puzzles, or cars, is welcome to help out on this one. :)

Our household is apparently going to be in the market for new vehicles over the next six months or so. It's not entirely clear how many have to shift, but both mine and [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale's are aging rapidly, and [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants' is too small for some of her needs.

So with that in mind... )

(No, there isn't really a concrete problem to be solved here, but getting input from others and broadening our search window is a useful exercise, and probably entertaining besides)

So, in a similar vein to [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale's LJ-Balderdash, I wonder if anyone would be interested in playing Acrophobia?

Click the button, monkeys! )

Feels like Monday, ought to be Sunday, let's make it content-free and be done with it..Where should I store my wallet? )

Just tapping the Vast Unpaid Research Department for a little user interface design input...

Given the following options )

Still lacking a few icons in my repertoire (pressing issues, I know), and the one I'm getting stumped on is a superhero icon. Who's representative of me? What should it say? Fully-formed icons are wonderful, of course, but I'll take any suggestions, as I'm seriously stumped on this one right now, oh Vast Unpaid Research Department....

This is a fantastically funny meme, found in [livejournal.com profile] infintysquared's journal:

Leave a list of fictional characters in your journal that you would love to get a message from. It is your friend-list's mission-- should they choose to accept it-- to write you an in-character post from a character on that list. Then they post their own list in their journal and the process continues!
Lots to choose from )
::edit:: Funniest. Game. Ever.

A couple of people have made mention of their "morning routines" here on LJ and elsewhere, and I thought it'd be fun to see how different people's "startup sequence" is. I was going to make it a poll, but after experience with leaving options off of a poll for teh City recently, I'll make it open-ended instead.

By way of example, some of the systems that come online in the morning, in no particular order, are: Sex Drive, Hunger, Curiosity, Obligation/Duty, Pain, Parental, Excretory, Vision, Balance, and Internal Music Player. I'll add more as people mention them. :)

Part of my (lack of) musical aptitude is that I sometimes mistake one musical group for another. Usually it's transient and easily corrected, but for years I've had difficulty figuring out the difference between two bands' songs on the radio: Styx and Rush. I don't know why; they're probably not all that similar overall (aside from having been around for approximately the same length of time). I recently started to decipher the mystery, mostly by noticing that I tend to prefer Styx, and don't "get" Rush, most of the time.

[Poll #650486]
Obviously it'll help if they're radio-ready songs, as that'll increase the likelihood I've heard them, but any songs are fair game...

Stolen from damn near everyone...

Reply to this post, and I'll tell you one of a lot of reason[s] why I like/love/adore you. Then put this in your own journal, and spread the love.
